Casimir A. Sienkiewicz

Casimir A. “Caz” Sienkiewicz

President/Founder

Springfield, Massachusetts, gave American industry its first lathe, musket, motorcycle, and kitchen match. It also produced Casimir Sienkiewicz. After earning a degree from Springfield Technical College, Caz moved to Minnesota to work for Kurt Manufacturing. There he worked his way up to become Program Manager for subcontract manufacturing for Boeing. Following his time with Kurt, he went on to become Director of Engineering at Filtration Products Corp.

Anxious to get out on his own, Caz began consulting on engineering projects for XCOR Aerospace, a private developer of rocket engines in Mojave, California. As his workload and client base grew, he founded Caztek in his garage in 2004. Today, the company has grown to nine full time employees. Caztek is now a leading engineering, analysis, design & rapid prototyping firm. The company’s clients include aerospace, medical, industrial and consumer products.

Chris Narveson

Chris Narveson

Director of Engineering

From senior engineering roles in a large medical device company to managing a manufacturing plant in a tiny Iowa town, Chris has operated in many different work environments. His current role as Director of Engineering at Caztek Engineering requires broad experience and knowledge. To that end, he plays a key role in business development, as well as managing the company’s engineering staff.

Academically, he’s earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State in Ames, IA and a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, MN, where he has taught as an Adjunct Instructor at the School of Engineering.

travis_yoch

Travis Yoch, PE

Lead Engineer/Analyst

Travis brings ten years of engineering experience in the areas of machine design, product development, and R&D projects to the Caztek team. He frequently utilizes simulation tools (e.g. FEA, CFD) as well as more traditional engineering analysis (e.g. hand calcs, Excel sheets) to solve complex design challenges. With extensive experience designing for injection molding, machining, sheet metal, die casting, and weldments, Travis champions a close working relationship between design and manufacturing in the late stages of product development.

Travis earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from NDSU in Fargo, ND. He’s a licensed professional engineer (Mechanical Systems) in the state of Minnesota. Travis is an inventor on two awarded patents and four that are in-process.

Brett Neubauer

Brett Neubauer

Design Engineer

Brett joined Caztek’s engineering team with a well-developed background in hands-on, product development, with an emphasis on biomedical and electrical engineering and focus on human assistive systems and machines. Research work with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) allowed Brett to continue his work in automated machines, robotics and hydraulic systems.

Brett earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the U of MN-Twin Cities, where he also obtained both his MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering.

Phil Pakes

Phil Pakes

Design Engineer

Phil rounds out Caztek’s mechanical engineering team with product development work in the agricultural and automotive categories, bringing manufacturing and fabrication experience to the team.

Phil earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State in Ames, IA and is our first intern to come full circle as an employee the following year, Phil set the bar for our internship program.

Rob Roberts

Rob Roberts

Design Engineer

At least symbolically, Rob wears a lot hats. From a welder’s helmet to a “have gun will travel” cowboy hat to a nerdy beanie with a propeller on top, Rob, needs many different styles of headgear to cover everything he does.

Rob’s activities run the gamut from new product design and development, to going hands-on to work out issues manufacturing prototypes, to being a hired gun at Caztek’s client companies to supplement engineering teams. No matter what specific task he’s tackling he uses his University of St. Thomas-honed engineering abilities along with his sophisticated SOLIDWORKS knowledge to create efficient solutions to complex problems.

Marshall Young

Marshall Young

Industrial Design & UI/UX

Marshall’s fine eye for aesthetics, refined by years of training and experience as an industrial designer, provides Caztek with hard-to-find expertise in making mechanical things both stylish and easy-to-use. Although he’s the only Southerner in the bunch, he’s successfully made the transition to Minnesota’s climate.

Trained at the Savannah College or Art and Design (SCAD), Marshall’s design skills run the gamut from industrial design to user experience.

Nick Borscheid

Nick Borscheid

Lead Machinist

Caztek’s machine shop is an important part of the overall business and Nick is the man who runs that show. A CNC machining expert, he commands the mills, lathes, grinders, and other machines that turn the ideas of the engineers and designers into cold steel reality.

Nick’s machine shop is busy and efficient and to keep it that way, he schedules the jobs, keeps track of materials and parts, and works with the Caztek team to make sure all machined parts are made as efficiently as possible.

Dan Karpenko

Dan Karpenko

Machinist

Dan has over 22 years of machine shop experience and is a key member of Caztek’s machine shop. His experience brings knowledge of how to make everything from high-tech test equipment to one-of-a-kind parts for vintage cars.

Whether the job calls for classic machining using a mill or lathe, or running modern CNC equipment, his machine shop skills get the job done.

Tim Budge

Tim Budge

Machinist

Tim has hands-on experience with medical device micro-machining and 1-2 piece prototyping, bringing a new level of expertise to Caztek’s growing machine shop. His experience brings knowledge of AS9100 quality systems for work with DOD, NASA & FAA.

Formally trained in both Machine Tool Technology & Music, Tim’s well-rounded experience combines technical expertise with the unique craftsmanship of fine arts.
